Brief report of year

The gardening year as we all know did not start off very well with the snow and very cold weather, but by the time of the Spring Show came round things had improved and it was a very good show with a high standard off entries.
Both of our plant sales where a success and thanks to all who come to buy and those who provide the plants.
Every one who went on the boat trip on the Chelmer and Blackwater canal enjoyed it; sailing along being served a nice meal was a very fine way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
The annual holiday to Cornwall was once again very enjoyable a good time was had by all, again our thanks to Clive for organising it.
The afternoon garden visit to Court View, Leigh on Sea on a very hot day was well supported even if the owners had not been expecting us but they soon rallied round and served us tea and cakes
The Autumn Show was once again had entries of a high standard, considering the rather indifferent summer that we had. The fuchsia competition was rather disappointing because the plug plants were not of a good quality, but we will change things next year. The chrysanthemum and dahlias were not very well supported for various reasons but hope things may be better next year.  The potato grown in a container was well supported and will be held again next year.
The inter village horticultural quiz was hosted by us this year and we came third, we did not have many supporters cheering us on, I don't know why this was.
At the AGM Stan and Jacki two of our long serving committee members stepped down, I would like to thank them for all that they have done over the years.
